MA Fine Art
This is participatory multisensory art. My art practice seeks to assert the primacy of the body in perception, and asks you to participate through all the senses so often excluded from art; touch, smell, and taste. In the place of an âobjectâ my artwork creates an âembodiedâ experience, through a âblocâ of sensation and the suprasensorial, which âdoes not actualise the virtual event but incorporates or embodies it: it gives it a body, a life, a universe ... These universes are neither virtual nor actual; they are possibles, âthe possible as aesthetic categoryââ (Deleuze 'What is Philosophy?'). Please touch, smell, eat the artwork, be prepared for an aesthetic experience that taps into emotion, memory and intimacy, where the meaning of the art only comes into being in relation to your being, your associations and understanding of the world bought from past experience. The flat âconceptâ is replaced by a created sensory reality, with its network of subjective meaning⦠Emily Ludolf is a graduate of Oxford University, where she specialized in Aesthetic theory, and past Finalist on the BBCâs Masterchef in 2008.
