MA History and Culture of Fashion
Born in Mexico City, raised in a bilingual and bicultural household. The vibrant colors of Mexico make a lasting impression on my system of vision. Attend high school in Maryland, exposed to the peculiar intricacies of America suburbia, develop an interest in the margins of style, make a commitment to represent subjects absent from mainstream fashion media. Complete my Bachelors in Media and Cultural Studies in New York City, initiate a lifelong process of de-learning and re-learning. Spend a semester abroad studying Latin American Art and Culture in Buenos Aires. Move to Berlin in search of techno music and underground artistic activities, find freedom, relinquish freedom. Relocate to London in order to undertake my graduate studies in History and Culture of Fashion, produce masters dissertation entitled: Implementing the Black Body: Techniques of Appearance, States of Embodiment and Subjectivities in the Music Videos of Missy Elliott.
