BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear
You are chatting amongst friends and a question pops up. If the answer to this question is unknown, the smart phone is whipped out and the answer is instantly revealed. My final collection started with this thought. Are we living in a society fuelled by instant gratification? Many believe the birth of the internet has acted as a catalyst in forming a heightened belief in the need and want for material items, through advertising and the easy âone clickâ access the internet gives us anything (we think) our heart desires. An almost royal like attitude? Throughout my collection I have responded to these concerns by visually looking into societyâs most heightened versions of instant gratification, the hunt for it and the cause of this need. I am fascinated with looking at western societies traits and habits to form collections. My research tends to start with looking at psychology and philosophy theories then applying them to what is happening today to form a collection. I come from a background of set design so am interested in combining this in my work. My aim is to create clothing and environments that are a heightened commentary to the world we live in.
